Instacart, the popular North American grocery delivery service, is broadening its reach by expanding into Quebec, marking the company’s first foray into offering services in French.
This move enhances the accessibility and convenience of its platform for French-speaking customers, further cementing Instacart’s position as a leader in the grocery delivery industry.
Launch Details and Initial Partners
Instacart has partnered with prominent retailers such as Costco Wholesale, Walmart Canada, and Les Aliments M&M to deliver same-day service in Quebec.
Initially, customers in Montreal can enjoy grocery and product deliveries from nearly 25 store locations. The expansion will soon extend to Quebec City, Sherbrooke, and Gatineau, bringing the service to even more residents.
With these new partnerships, Quebecers will be able to order a range of groceries and household products and receive them at their doorstep within an hour.
This development represents a significant milestone for Instacart, as it has fully translated its platform into French for the first time to cater to the region’s linguistic needs.
Commitment to Canadian Customers
Chris Rogers, Vice President of Retail at Instacart, emphasized the importance of the expansion, stating, “With today’s launch, we are taking a new step in deepening our commitment to Canada, creating new ways for Quebecers to connect with and support local brick-and-mortar retailers.
We are proud to introduce Instacart’s very first French experience in Quebec and look forward to finding more ways for customers to engage with the retailers they trust.”
Retailer Perspectives and Additional Collaborations
This latest expansion has received positive feedback from major retailers. Derek Bowles, Director of Store Operations at Les Aliments M&M, highlighted the added value of the partnership: “M&M Food Market has embraced online shopping for years, and partnering with Instacart allows us to expand our service.

Walmart Canada echoed these sentiments. We look forward to providing additional delivery options to our customers.”
The expansion will also include the Quebec branch of Shoppers Drug Mart, known as Pharmaprix, which will offer Instacart’s services to its customers.
Sephora Canada has also announced its involvement, highlighting the platform’s ability to cater to the changing shopping preferences of its customers.
